Curating Summer Florals for a Linen Launch

The quiet days in early January always feel like a pause, a moment to reflect on the year past, to take stock of memories, milestones, and creative moments that defined the months. This year, that reflection led me to an especially memorable project: being asked to design summer florals for the BBJ Tavola summer linens launch for their Sorento Sunkiss Linens Launch.

The Vision: Lemons, Linen, and Light

I immediately envisioned a celebration of light, texture, and color, a summer floral experience that would echo the elegance and sophistication of the collection itself. The collection featured linens in shades of yellows, blues, whites and greens. The floral design needed to mirror the palette while offering a fresh, organic counterpoint to the structured beauty of the fabrics. I settled on a palette of yellow blooms and lemons for my assigned tablecloth, bright yet refined, bringing in subtle green accents to ground the arrangements. From delicate ranunculus to clusters of golden roses, and ripe lemons, each bloom was chosen to harmonize with the linens’ sun-kissed tones, creating a cohesive story between fabric and flower.

Summer Florals: An Immersive Experience

The client also wanted a summer floral bar, a curated, interactive floral experience for attendees. This concept elevated the event from a typical launch to an immersive experience. Guests were invited to craft their own designs, selecting from a palette of various colors. It was a tactile, joyous experience. The flower bar became not only a highlight of the event but a bridge between the elegance of the linens and the playful creativity of floral design. Additionally, the experience was brought to life through live painting by Event Art by Sarah Jane, capturing the energy and artistry of the florals as the event unfolded.

A Note on Design Philosophy

Designing summer florals for a launch like this is about more than aesthetics. It’s about storytelling: translating color, texture, and emotion into a physical form that complements and elevates the brand’s vision. Every petal, every stem, and every arrangement was a chance to create a fleeting, yet unforgettable, moment of luxury and beauty.
